Good and spicy fish recipe gotten from a mother of a friend in Southern India 2 years ago
Indian Fish
- 500g of fish
- 1/2 of a coconut, grated
- 10 red chilies
- 1 chopped onions
- A piece of ginger an inch long, chopped
- 1 small green chilli, chopped
- Oil
- 1 teaspoon of tamarind paste – Squeeze a lemon if this is not available
Saute onion, ginger and green chili in the oil till the onions are transparent. Blend together the coconut, red chilies and tamarind paste with some salt to a paste. Mix the paste with the sauteed onions, ginger and green chilly. Add some water (based on how thick you want the gravy to be) and bring to a boil. Add the fish and boil till the fish is cooked.
It is really tasty, obviously chili can be adjusted to more western tastes. The fresh grated coconut changes everything.
Dear Julien,
thank you so much for the recipe and I’m looking forward to trying it out soon!
I will let you know how the 10 red chilies went!

Hi Mathilde,
I watched the episode of Instant Restaurant on BBC and really enjoyed. All the food you cooked looked great and I am really tempted to try the chocolate pudding you made. I am a big chocolate fan and your chocolate pudding looked very inviting. Could you please share the recipe with me. I would like to try it out.
I am a food blogger (http://easy-to-cook-recipes.blogspot.com/) too, so I would like to try your chocolate pudding recipe, and if I am successful, then I will upload the recipe to my blog and link it back to your blog as your recipe.
Please let me know if that’s fine with you.
Thanks,
Sanchita.

Hi Mathide,
I just thought I might add a recipe using Black Garlic, its quite new and well received by foodies here in the UK. I’d love to send you some to see what you think.
Lamb and Black Garlic Fajitas
These make an excellent lunchtime treat. Great for children! You can substitute the lamb for chicken or for a vegetarian version add different vegetables such as mange tout and baby corn.
Serves 4
Ingredients
* 4 lamb steaks – finely sliced
* 1 onion – finely sliced
* 1 large sweet red pepper – sliced
* 1 large courgette – sliced
* 3 cloves of peeled black garlic – finely sliced
* 1 tablespoon of olive oil
* Half to 1 teaspoon of chilli powder (according to taste)
* Juice of 1 lime
* 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
* 1 tablespoon of olive oil or stir-fry oil for frying
* 1 tablespoon of fresh coriander – chopped
* Salt and freshly ground black pepper
* Tortillas, shredded lettuce and soured cream, to serve
* Black bean sauce (optional)
Instructions
1. Place the lamb, onion, sweet red peppers, courgettes and black garlic in a non-metallic bowl.
2. Mix the olive oil, limejuice, soy sauce and chilli powder together. Pour over the lamb and vegetables. Leave to marinade for an hour.
3. When you are ready to eat, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil or stir fry oil in a wok. Heat until it is hot. Add the meat and vegetable mixture.
4. Stir-fry over a high heat until the meat and vegetables are cooked.
5. Season to taste. Stir through the chopped fresh coriander. As an optional extra a tablespoon of black bean sauce makes a good addition.
6. Serve straight away with tortilla wraps, lettuce and sour cream.
Raw Beetroot salad – experimenting with raw beetroot – tried it grated and added to fried two year matured jambon cubes – warm through with some balsamic vinegar and seasoning. Was very good – perhaps less vinegar and needs a way to let the jamon shine through more. Welcome suggestions! Richard
Bonjour Mathilde,
On
Bien Cordialement
Christelle
